Electric Bikes Dublin

Electric Bikes DublinThe electric bike industry is booming across Europe and evidence of this can be seen on the streets of Dublin. An increasing number of people discovering the benefits of riding an electric bike, especially for commuting as uncertainty continues to surround fuel prices.

Dublin is a perfect city for electric bikes, being relatively small and flat. The main factor of this increase is two fold; an increased focus on reducing commuting costs and health. Electric bicycles are the perfect choice to combine healthy exercise with a "green" lifestyle. An other factor is that the technology in electric bikes is improving all the time. As Dublin is a relatively small city, the ability to commute even from the sub-burbs is very feasible. An electric bike is a fast and inexpensive means of transport and a excellent alternative to driving in a car. Riding an e-bike costs only 10 cent per charge, and it is possible to maintain an average speed of 15-25 km/h even in urban traffic.

Electric bikes are under the cycle to work scheme which has been hugely successful in Ireland. With the cycle to work scheme people are investing in higher quality and leading brands such as, the hand made German Electric bike Kalkhoff now available Dublin.

Kalkhoff Award Winning Pedelec

Last month at the Tapai International Cycle Show, two Kalkhoff e-bikes models won ExtraEnergy awards in the Best Pedelec category. The Pro Connect won Best Easy Pedelec, one of the most hotly contended awards.

The Kalkhoff Pro Connect impressed with its excellent balance between handling, fittings and motor. This is a marriage of tradition with power. It feels very much like a bicycle and the consistently very high values achieved in the riding test, make this Pedelec the ideal vehicle for daily use in the city environment.

The Agattu XXL won Best Touring Pedelec. The Agattu XXL is a version of the Agattu with stronger components and suspension giving it a 320 pound load capacity.

Kalkhoff has all the right to be proud of this Pedelec, because the testers couldn’t find a single aspect to criticize.

Kalkhoff was the only brand to win two award, a testament to the design and engineering experience of our colleagues in Germany. Congratulations!

Junior Minister Alan Kelly gives Kalkhoff two thumbs up!

On Wednesday 22nd June more than a thousand cyclists working in and around Dublin joined Junior Minister at the department of transport Alan Kelly who saddled up on a KALKHOFF Pro Connect Disc.

The aim of this initiative was to highlight how e-bike cyclists benefit from fresh air, gentle exercise and huge savings … The KALKHOFF Pro Connect Disc was chosen for the minister as this top of the range bike can travel up to 140 kms on a single charge and costs only 40 cents to be charged-up. E-bike cyclists can save thousands of euros per year if they give up their cars. Cycling an e-bike also means avoiding traffic gridlock and reducing traffic-induced stress.
